What generation GTI do you have? I have a 2016 MK7 manual, just crossed 41k miles.  I wasn’t aware of the timing belt at 60k, I will have to check my maintenance schedule again.

I believe it’s the same 5-speed manual they have offered since World War II. I considered pressuring my girlfriend to get Impreza with the manual, but then when I found out it’s only a 5-speed, and you actually lose MPG over the stupid CVT, I caved in and let her get the stupid CVT.

Raphael, how was there no mention of how gutless the engine is with that CVT?! My girlfriend has the regular ‘19 Impreza (the version not on stilts) and I puke in my mouth every time I drive it due to the CVT. Also the steering is damn near dangerous with how vague it is. I feel like Subaru did not put any effort into…

Can we talk about the power downgrade when getting the manual? This is straight out a cop out, VW straight up slacked off and most likely decided to reuse the manual transmission/clutch from the MK7 Golf R, which you guessed it, had 280 ft-lb torque.

Great article! Photography + Cars, 2 topics I am nerdy about. I love how the pictures turned out. It really gives a 90s vibe to the whole thing, even with a 2017 model year car in it. It is crazy how the graniness and the overall lack of sharpness of expired film just changes the whole mood.

I have the OEM dealer/factory installed mud flaps and they are great! Highly recommended

That’s as off-road as my GTI has ever been. I can’t see myself doing that in my car, but I would love to do it in someone else’s!!

So does that mean these engines have no air filter? I wouldn’t want to daily a car without an air filter.
