Well, I didn’t know Ledger died until I saw the movie thrice, so you might be off base for a lot of people.

I personally adore The Dark Knight (I’ve seen it six times now), and a huge part of that is Ledger’s Joker. It’s very much not the Joker I grew up knowing, but I think he’s the definition of a “gritty reboot” character done right. Such a pleasure to watch.
