While that is sound, even after a month, or several months, you cannot always predict how your unique machine is going to take to it. I say backup, create a restore point, and roll with it.

Ok. The problem is these so called techniques in the paper are junk, and have never been used successfully. This paper has been referenced pretty much by everyone who has a misinformed opinion on the subject.
I disagree about xp. It worked well out of the box for me. So well that I didnt bother with SP1 at all.
I'm gonna take the time to read over that url, because it seems hella interesting.
That appears to be an issue with the new format. I am trying to figure out why the new format's tex boxes lag when typing. It's pretty annoying.
Yeah. This is the kinda post that helps spread misinformation. No dude, one pass, the data is gone, period. NO ONE HAS RECOVERED DATA OVER WRITTEN ON A DRIVE. THE BRITISH MILITARY STANDARD; ONE PASS. All other standards are based on faulty logic, paranoia, well, and just in case'. Using the idea of military spec in…
There is also always clonezilla or ghost :)... but work -vs- payoff -vs- potential issues...
it's the translation layer that is at fault, which does error correction, evenly spreading out writes, etc... flash drives with a layer like this, which might include drives with built in security, might have similar issues to ssds. but i dont honestly know.
ITS A MAD HOUSE! A MAD HOUSE I TELL YOU! {citation needed}
Note; SINGLE pass is the bristish military standard. This stardard is based on reality.
Firefox, by default, has an annoying feature enabled. As you type a url it guesses what you are typing based on your book marks. This feature was not always there. I upgraded, and one day the gf is using the computer and starts to type in youtube. In my bookmarks I had bookmakred Kate's Baby Oil from youporn. I'm not…
Um. That's stupid. If you want to consume something you should learn how to do so correctly, not abandon it.
Pretty much what everyone should be doing.
I keep a text file with my login creds, because I have found that I have too many logins and security questions to keep track of in my head.
And set it for the british standard of single pass.
[nvsl.ucsd.edu] a research team working on this subject.
I do not know if normal flash drives have a layer that does error corrections and and the like. If not, then the data should be gone, forever, once it is over written once.
No.
Yes, they were able to by pass the the controller, and read the ram directly, without understanding how it works. Christ. Did you read the piece to understand the methods used? Filling up the drive; without bypassing the controller will NOT ensure fragments of your data will have been over written.
crap, crap until se, crap, CRAP, good, crap, Teh Awesome
