Dikachu - you ended tonight with $16,845! That's second place, so we'll give you $2000, and a fresh lemon for your wounds.

I just saw the season premiere on my flight!! I think we'll all be quite happy and properly grossed out :)

The dilemma of fault is how I present the book to my students. I understand why the Creature does what he does, but that does not make me sympathetic to him.

I believe so, yes. Also all of Shakespeare, which is why he identifies with Caliban. Super archaic and highly dramatic, as is appropriate for Shelley's gothic, romantic prose.

Nice article! Though I would have a liked the demo video to illustrate one of the other victories. That was twelve minutes of queen-killing!

Penny Dreadful does a great job at capturing the melancholy of the Creature. He really had an antique vocabulary compared to his maker and community, and I really like how the show captures that subtle disconnect, while addressing the giant disconnect of a reanimated collection of body parts going around revenging on

That should just be the pull quote for every season.

Please, please be referencing the Michael York version….
Edit: whew!

It's not just mopey - I think the audience would be more forgiving of him if he were just melodramatic. Hell, it'd be in keeping with the melodrama of the series! He's also annoyingly violent. No spoilers, but he lashes out at exactly the wrong moments, like a petulant bulldozer.

My nephew and I loved to watch his Broadway show on DVR. My sister watched a little bit with us, looked at me, and commented that most of the jokes were not really for kids. Meanwhile my nephew was falling out of his chair laughing.

I still remember the creepy bit where they visit the solar system, and on Pluto Miss Frizzle took off her helmet to illustrate how cold it was, and her whole head froze into a mannequin-like block of ice. Truly terrifying to a kid.

That…aw, dammit that made me chuckle and got me saying it aloud!

Yay for Coach! Glad he got such a sweet/disgusting send off :)

Loved it! Cavanaugh nailed the new twinge in his voice that relishes revealing evil - truly delicious.

My family has a theory that the season finale is leading to the opening credits. After last night's episode, I wonder if they're correct.

Don't sell yourself short, PROL! You mentalize that manor how you want!

I'd agree - I had pictured a large manor estate, like with maybe three floors and lots of side buildings? But I guess this is what Galbadon had in mind, so I'll go with it.

Well done on the review. I felt that the Lallybroch bits almost verged on too much compression. That is, it felt like we've reached this pivotal set, and everything switched so quickly that in the space of an hour everyone got really bitchy with each other, except for Ian. I mean, it was wonderful to witness the

I don't watch Big Bang Theory either - I don't know if it's out of spite at an individual, or general push against the tide.
