Ah, I remember that. I thought they were doing it because they had no choice - they were still slaves. But apart from Mammy, they all seemed willing to coddle Scarlett.
That's what I thought - thanks!
I meant that the "feminism" in the novel - such as it is - is not used by the author to make a statement.
That seems to assume a lot about Mitchell. I admittedly don't know much about the author herself, but would she really have had access to those forms and ideas?
Do yourself a favor and don't watch the film adaptation of "Scarlett"
That sequel was also made into a movie! It was…not good.
I wonder though - at that point what other feminism was there except for undifferentiated? Scarlett pushed for what she wanted in a way that went against all societal norms at the time (Mitchell's too), yet she didn't care - not because she was making a statement, but because she was so unrelenting in her basic desire…
It's been a little while since I've read the book, but I think I probably enjoyed it a little more than the movie. The movie has some famous lines and all, but it's sooo long, never mind the backward viewpoints and apologist scenes of former slaves being happy to see their owners.
While the first sketch was a little long, I though the "Goddess Brunch" was wonderful. It was thoughtful without being preachy, and true without being mean. Plus it had the great non-Viking funeral ending (though I thought immediately of that scene in Anne of Green Gables )
I just looked that up. Now I am also infuriated. Thanks.
Cisco undoubtedly keeps up on meta-human forums, where community members come up with names for superheroes. Everyone is simply abuzz there :)
I thought that was the purpose of the white "scanner" light in the doorway. Clearly recording entry.
Wells' DNA must have been on file from something else already. Perhaps getting fingerprinted or blood work from working with high-level security projects?
I like that she says that the law needs to catch up, that the City isn't ready to cope with criminals like this, and then we immediately cut to Everyman in the prison tank. Made me uneasy for a moment
I think they tried to cushion this by repeatedly saying that Barry couldn't touch him for the first half of the episode, since they didn't know the extent of Everyman's ability.
It's modeled on that one congressman (?) who went to Argentina to follow his mistress. True love knows no geographical limits!!
Ooh, a disciple of Baldur's Gate? Sounds like my kind of game! Also: how do I miss these Kickstarters? Not that I have money to spare, but I always seem to miss the good ones, yet find the "custom made cat pens" junk all the time.
When they showed that tiny clip of Jon's election, it made me think that maybe he wasn't thinking "Honor, duty, etc." but rather "There's no way this is going to work. Everyone hates me." Which is why he perks up when the men clap for him - he realizes Sam didn't have the worst idea in the world.
They're in Seville, and I highly recommend visiting (the Alcazar)
