My girlfriend is as big a nerd as me, and I love that she loves or at least humors my geekier tendencies. I think, once again...these guys aren't angry at the women or at the very least their anger is misdirected...they are ultimately angry at being manipulated..

I have to agree with this. I think it is going to take a great deal of steam to turn yahoo around, and I am not sure if she or anyone else at this point will be able to turn them around before they get devoured by the ultra competitive search engine/social media environment right now.
