When my dad died, one of my coping mechanisms was taking care of other people, that allowed me to put off some of my grieving. Sorry for your loss, your dad sounds like a good one. Remember that grief is personal - there’s no right way to act, there’s no timeline for you to follow - you do what’s best for you.

Someone should really make an online calculator that lets people see what their taxes would be under this plan. It all seems abstract until your numbers are staring you in the face.
