I had to call my mom this week to get some assurance that the Midwesterners weren’t panicking yet; now that I’m living somewhere else and the Lysol/Clorox shelves are emptied, I had to double-check that I was not insane for thinking “it’s not an ice storm, we’ll be fine, I probably do not need to buy extra milk yet”.

Every time you mention your mother, the happier I am that you and the bartender are (seemingly) going to get your much-deserved happy ending down in Panama.

Thanks for asking your friend about this, I appreciate the expanded info!

Honestly, I don’t disagree with the suit over wrongful death—whether her endgame is money or making sure a similar situation doesn’t end in the same result, I just think it’s egregious to be suing the estate of the deceased pilot on top of the corporate entities that employed him—the employer has insurance and is

I figured that was the sort of common-sense end of the situation; I understand that grief is messy, and that no amount of money can replace a human, but I don’t see the justification in screwing over another grieving family when the bulk of any financial gains you’d make through the suit would come from corporate

As the pilot is among the deceased, does it make sense as part of procedure? I’d agree that it would make plenty of sense if he were still alive, but considering he did not survive the crash, it’s not like he can personally answer for any of what happened. Any burden which would have fallen on him is now falling on

That’s what I figured, so why bother naming the pilot’s estate as well, since she’s suing the company (and any money she’d receive would be paid out by their insurance) already.

What exactly is she hoping to get out of suing the pilot’s estate? I feel like it’s in poor taste, when you presumably have an enormous fortune, to sue the (presumably significantly less well-off) family of the deceased, not when you’re already suing the employers of the pilot.

Oh I can indeed get onboard the ‘asshole mayors destroy each other and Liz takes all their voters’ train. Toot toot!

Honestly the American Girl book about puberty (The Care and Keeping of You) was a right of passage for all of my friends and I! It covered bras, periods, hygiene, and plenty of other stuff (possibly also social topics, I can’t quite remember).

This is easily my favorite rant of the day.

I was surprised by how bad I felt for her during much of it—primarily because of the “need to be good” and the fact that she clearly still had the mindset of a child/teen in the beginning of the documentary’s timeframe. It was a little unsettling to watch her having to learn/adjust/unlearn certain mindsets/ideas as a

Rebecca’s (Good Things Happen to People You Hate) was fantastic, one of my favorite reads of 2019.

I was introduced to the 2012 Dear Prudence about the fraternal twin incest last night...I wish I had not been lmao.

Yes, Cabello was a teenager, but it’s hard to believe that she didn’t know better.

It was, uh, not pleasant. Hence the $5,000 MRI, which sadly is what it took for my parents to believe me when I told them that “not eating enough fiber/not drinking enough water” wasn’t the reason I was constipated all the time.

Honestly? This isn’t the worst advice. Coffee (okay lots of coffee) and a little food and then going is the best I’ve ever been able to treat my IBS-C.

It takes a lot of grain and a lot of effort to make oat milk; the same concept (large quantities of grains/nuts, large amounts of water, lengthy processing time) applies to all faux milks.

God, look at Meghan McCain being out there with a better moral/ethical bar (set at big toe height, natch) than the person occupying the Oval Office. What a world we live in today!

oh my god, I googled because I thought ‘yeah there’s no way’ but IT’S REAL!
