There’s been so much news to keep up with and yet it seems like they’ve really not accomplished much. And that applies to pretty much everyone who’s made the news this year. It’s all been headlines and very little in the ‘lasting effects’ column outside of the children-in-cages policy.

Wow, I completely forgot that John McCain died this year. (As in, had forgotten that he was dead, period.) What has 2018 done to me?

gonna be real mad if you’ve never screenshotted my comments

LOL I have to say, some of the surprising bits of history knowledge I’ve acquired over the years have been on whale oil’s use in providing light and the benefits of tallow vs. beeswax candles; totally happy to have our LED bulbs nowadays.

Oof I can’t even imagine how much smoke inhalation you’d end up having over the course of a lifetime back when all light and heat was provided by candles and fireplaces.

The author kept defending it in the comments as not-sponsored. I don’t know what’s more yikes, option a) it’s actually spon-con, or option b) she really just loves Oatly that much.

The other thing we all have in common is our hatred of you, Ann.

I’m kind of relieved that they come across in writing this way because they actually are this way, rather than it just being awful writing.

That was a spectacularly bad essay, I can’t believe I’d almost forgotten about it.

Hahaha, the best/worst thing about it was that she’d been making fun of his light-up deer for weeks because one had a broken antler, so he’d put up a sting of lights wrapped around a wire hanger rather than buying a new one. She tore out the hanger and hid it back in his bushes so he knew they weren’t just all knocked

Haha, she remarried several years later, I actually made her and my step-dad dinner tonight. He’s wonderful, and she deserves him.

This story isn’t so much disastrous as it is petty, and full of intricate white-people neighborhood relation nonsense.

Counterpoint: Reign was delightful exactly because of how historically-inaccurate it was. Like, it was awful and that’s what made it so much fun to watch.

Wow Amber Heard must have a boatload of self-restraint.

I love them both as individuals and I’m pretty sure they’ve got enough charm between the two of them to make me love them as a duo.

FYI the “elaborate, choreographed dance party” is part of a traditional Indian wedding. Weddings in India can be celebrated over the course of several days, and include a bunch of different events.

she doesn’t like the m-word.

I literally have zero ground to stand on when it comes to irrational fears, but I honestly can not figure out what it is about this one that worries her/where the fear actually comes from here.

It’s peak corporate intersectional feminism/inclusive ally-ship.
