Wow, I have no interest in PS5. Games like God of War on PS4 are already spectacular. Pushing beyond this point requires so much talent and so many dev hours that could be better spent making slightly less technically impressive but much more interesting.

I haven’t played this game, so I can’t judge it one way or another.  But note that it’s a character saying that “he’s doomed them all” - not the writer of the game.  I wouldn’t be so quick to assume what the authorial intent was.  I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt.

“Call of Legend” sounds like a video game name randomly generated by an under-trained neural network.

I love this stuff.  I can only assume this will be a chapter in your next book! I really enjoyed Blood, Sweat & Pixels.  Please include some Japanese devs in the next one also :)

Does this mean we’ll see Virtual Boy games on Switch Online?

That’s interesting - I loved BOTW, but I didn’t have much desire to keep playing after beating it.  The real draw for me was the exploration, and that isn’t very rewarding once you’ve seen the whole map.  Still holding out hope for a Majora’s Mask-type sequel in the same engine.

President of Nintendo of America, not president of Nintendo.  Since Nintendo is a Japanese company, I doubt that he has much say in what is developed (except maybe to weigh in on what is marketable in the US.)

What’s the connection to movie theaters? And yeah, those books were dark as hell, and quite violent. Made for some very compelling 3-am reading for 12-year old me. I bet somewhere there are people around who believe in yeerks...

That’s great! Totally worth it if it you can play it without blowing on it first.

I read Catch-22 years ago and loved it but haven’t read anything else by Heller.  Now God Knows is going on my list for sure. Thanks!

I played the HELL out of Advance Wars on GBA, until some dick STOLE my GBA and that game with it in school.  So I’m interested in this.  I have to say, though, after playing Into the Breach I want every game of this type to have pushing/pulling mechanics where you get to slam your enemies into buildings, drop them

Yup, I save-scummed the hell out of XCom and, while it saved my ass many times, it wasn’t as satisfying. So I don’t mind if they don’t have that feature. It’s one of those cases where developers force you to play the game the way it ought to be played for maximum satisfaction. But - if save-scumming is not allowed,

Well put. If another game studio was putting out Anthem, it probably wouldn’t get as much hate. But BioWare fans LOVE their worldbuilding and intricate stories with player choice, so if Anthem skimps on those aspects in favor of a grind, it will not go well.

Personally, I’m pretty disappointed in the seeming lack of

I played the original on GameCube and liked it quite a bit back then. But I’m kind of surprised that it has held up so well for a lot of people. I wonder what it is about this game that is so special? I can’t think of anything it does that’s much different from a lot of other action games, other than how you have to

I should play this one. I legit have trouble watching her jump off that building.

This is the sort of silliness you get when inexperienced writers desperately want some simple rules to make their writing better. The fact is, there aren’t any simple rules (other than basic stuff like spelling, grammar and so on.) The best way to write better is to ignore most of this advice, and instead just a) read

Somehow, I find that stressful games are sometimes very relaxing. If I am playing Super Meat Boy or another similarly difficult game, it’s challenging in a way that’s different from real life. In real life, sometimes tasks are nebulous and never-ending, but in Super Meat Boy there is a very obvious goal and it’s only

Smash, obviously.  And I will never finish, because World of Light is ginormous.

Game has been mostly lag-free for me.

Man, I miss manuals. My theory is that manuals are not printed because that would be an incentive for customers to buy physical rather than digital, and the profit margin for digital is higher. Still. I want them. Fan-made replacements are fun, but the real pleasure of a manual for me is seeing the official, final
