This is a great article. Two thoughts -

I played some of the demo and liked it, but I was assuming the characters would meet up at some point and have a lot of meaningful dialogue, the story changing based on who you have in your party, etc.  If that isn’t there... this is a no go for me.  But I will guess that in the last act of the game there will be much

It’s fairly tough but not unfairly so.  I haven’t got to the extra-difficult final bosses or anything, but 20 hours in and it’s pretty comparable to other moderately difficult games.  Also, it helps that usually when you can’t defeat a boss there are lots of other places to explore and build out your character so you

This game is amazing. I am probably 20 hours in, and judging by the map I am not even close to finished. The combat is very satisfying and visceral. A lack of checkpoints can sometimes be frustrating when you have to traverse a long distance over and over to get to a particular boss fight.

Now playing

I am going to say Super Mario World, because that music has to put a smile on your face.

I also played Super Metroid a bit late, around 2000 or so. But far from finding it overrated, it quickly earned a spot on my favorite games of all time. Same goes with Final Fantasy VI and Yoshi’s Island. For some reason, SNES games are evergreen - they seem to get in that sweet spot between ugly-pixels-NES and

I’ve been playing a lot of Hollow Knight. It’s pretty great, if VERY FRUSTRATING AT TIMES. I just lost over 800 dollars (or whatever the hell the currency is) and I nearly threw my Switch across the room. I said, fuck it, I am done with this game. But we all know I will be back tomorrow.

Mine have to be...

I bought Splatoon 2 when it was on sale and played it for a couple hours and totally failed to get interested in it.  So I might buy Hollow Knight instead.

Yeah, what’s with the terrible names for these games? It’s like the localizers were too timid to tell the designers how nonsensical the names sound in English.

I played an hour or so of this game and I enjoyed it quite a bit, although I’m not sold on the “blurry pixels” art style.  I like pixel art but I wish it were a

Re: Mario Odyssey - YES PLZ.  That game was a bit too easy, with the except of the Darker Side.  Would love some very challenging DLC.

Tropical Wiggler should be #1. I would be happy playing a whole game as a Tropical Wiggler.

If you feel like crying a bunch, listen to this episode of This American Life about a disconnected phone booth that became a kind of shrine for many Japanese to talk to their loved ones after the quake.

I am... slightly less excited about Spider-Man now. That trailer was just SO corny. It seemed like a plot made up by a kid with Marvel action figures. I hope the story is better than this on average. Still, will buy it if the web-swinging lives up to the hype.

Haha, amazing that people remember or find this. I did! And I finally completed it (with 100% of KONG letters) last night. It was great!

I have so many more questions. What about humans? Are they really Pokemon? Did they evolve from Pokemon when they reached a certain level? What about microorganisms, are they Pokemon too?

The original LOZ might be hard to go back to now if you have no nostalgia for it, but LTTP holds up very well by modern standards I think.

The existence of this video makes me feel a bit better about humanity.

So cool. I wish Nintendo would do something like this with Zelda.

Well, I had in mind that they should have put in these features before launch, or put in wifi connectivity for updates.
