To add to all the other very good points others have made: While your post commented on the graphical power (which is handled by the GPU), its likely doing realistic damage models would require a lot more calculation on the CPU, which has not had quite the same performance growth as GPUs recently.

My understanding is that this is nowhere near an officially sanctioned gamemode, and just a custom lobby that people are getting creative with the settings (and names).
