Its important to remember that officials in racing have way, way more influence than many other sports, particularly American “ball” sports.
I mean, that’s not necessarily a bad market, right?
Remember the effect Netflix is having on the sport in the USA also, drama would be good for business...
A lot of things were pointing towards the race ending under a safety car. Pitting could have put him behind VER as the SC paraded to the end.
But Ina normal course of action, it seemed highly likely that the race ended behind the SC, in which case you do NOT want to give up the position.
