Exactly. Electricity is very hard to store as well.

Have any of you people seen a European country and how most human beings in city’s live? They are stacked on top of each other with no real parking garage, parking in the street all over the place. As long as gasoline is cheap, it’s an amazingly useful technology. We are always acting like Oil companies are evil; yet…
You can get a 997.1 for 35k....much better idea than some 996 cabrio wtf? The 15k is worth it and you still have enough money to buy a new engine after you blow the first one redlining it around town and track for 10 years.
It is not a tax break for TESLA. They operate at a massive loss on massively subsidized projects. That is the difference.
No, you just don’t understand your oil prices would have been much, MUCH higher if price of entry was higher (which subsidies help). Also, you don’t seem to have a grasp of macro economics as Oil is a global commodity and we are a net-importer. Also, alternatives require energy investment and are just not economic…
Oil subsidies are tax breaks to encourage smaller companies to take chances and explore to lower costs...TESLA subsidies are money directly from your pocket to a vehicle you will never own..
No worries the delta will be supplied by your tax dollars
I’m really glad Obama is finally addressing the fact that we have too much freedom. Thanks Obama.
Buy tesla model 3, pay no taxes, re-sell for more than you paid cuz hype takes a second to die down, never buy again.
You do realize u work for gawker right? I give you 30 days before they have you politically assassinated. I will provide you safe-harbor at my Austin hide-out. Uncle Elon will bring skynet online and self aware; we can stop him.
It is the most rewarding experience you can have on track; that is the special thing about the 911 that I feel like alot of people don’t get. It is an amazingly engineered car that demands alot of the driver to set the same lap time/faster lap time of an easier to drive car with similar “paper” performance.
Given the fact I trail brake on almost every turn on track, I have heard of it. That doesn’t make the 911 better at turn in because of rear-engine dynamics. It just means the 911 rewards trail braking more than other cars (because it is making up for the rear-engine bias). I track my 997 often as well. I’m just…
Hate to tell you this, but having the engine in the back gives more traction to rear-wheels...not front wheels. Turn-in is aided by front grip and instability (neg camber). The rear-engine really helps more with flat out acceleration out of a corner.
Why even cover this? Why not talk more about what Elon Musks dick is doing today?
I think Ellon musk’s dick is chaffing from how much you have been riding it. Jalopnik; we don’t care about race-cars anymore we care about 5,000 lb “eco friendly” cars that have a “Sweet” low center of gravity cuz “future bro.” Nothing but a gawker proxy, the soul of Jalopnik is dead.
I don’t see anything going wrong with any of this.
4 wheel drive, no transmission to shift, and an electric car designed for 0-60 bursts.
997...the last 911 worth buying to me.
Sounds super reliable, super lightweight, and i’m sure running costs and repair costs will not be prohibitively astronomical, relegating these cars to enthusiasts who will enjoy the added benefits of hybrid torque...
I feel like in- car fire extinguisher would be a waste in that situation. Too much fire, need to get out as fast as possible. Yes, definitely important to get/wear all of the correct FIA fire gear, and also to practice getting out of your race-car as fast as possible in the event of a fire. This is standard business…
