Due process applies to lots more situations than whether you go to jail or not. You actually can cite in it administrative hearings, like licenses, civil forfeiture, or even one’s own job if it’s not at-will and your union collectively bargained for it.

If it’s any consolation (and to any other revisionists in the thread), the Watergate story broke six months before Nixon was re-elected by historic margins, then the magnitude of the story revealed itself (and it was unprecedented at the time), leading to his resignation less than two years later.
