The show was never thought out well, after Rebecca Sugar gave the show some depth they forced it, while their retcons are decent whenever they try to progress the plot with higher stakes it's usually mediocre, miniseries are slightly better

I thought the miniseries were slightly better, but the series just not planned out well

This is why I suggested to get the Earth government involved for much needed conflict and better world building
