I’m a man. This was interesting.

Just as a mental exercise, why is it wrong for France to create cultural norms that do not allow burkinis? They are a vehemently secular country so it seems to fit in with the culture they are striving to create. In America, that would be ridiculous as it is a clear violation of religious freedom and individual…
Thatz not okay.
I think you’re right. Growing up, I didn’t know the proper term to describe my mother telling a paychiatrist that I wanted to kill myself and hurt others was Munchausen by proxy. The psych didn’t care and went right along with it, but thankfully the facility was good and refused to admit me despite his and her…
Did you miss the part where a Brazilian judge said that filing a false report was “not that serious” down there? The swimmers were dumb, but you can’t just impose arbitrary penalties like seizing passports and now this ludicrous $11k extortion. It’s you who is treating Brazil like some third-world, lawless land.…
Sorry, his own friend witnessed the rape according to his statement. I do my volunteer hours with Legal Aid, I know there are innocent people. So stop debasing them by calling this guy innocent. If you don’t want to reconcile his past actions with his current star status - well, you won’t be the only one.
Glad to see Team USA got a pass.
As a straight, white guy; I can’t imagine what a difficult and unfair burden is it to try to navigate the identity politics of my own being - much less multiple, meaningful identities like gender and race at the same time. Go you for being a boss!
I can respect that opinion. And, semantically, I would agree that a rapist is, to a degree, less awful than a murderer. But that’s as far as that line of logic can go. You and I agree that a murderer without a conviction should face social ramifications. I further extend that belief to group rapists who assault…
Having driven on I-70 in Missouri, I can confirm that 1956 was the last time major road work was done in the state.
Well then together we make two (Internet commentators)! My gf could actually answer this since it's more her field, but she’d kill me for waking her up over an Internet forum. I get your point, and maybe I'm off base, but I was really suggesting Jez post the facts of the accusation more prominently against his…
I appreciate the reply, but there is no defamation in reporting facts. If Jez were to write unsubstantiated rumors as fact then that would apply, but for them to report information like court records and to have an ediorialized opinion on it is perfectly fine (and basically Gawker’s whole business model).
My biggest problem with this article is that it again focuses almost solely on Parker’s narrative and feelings. This morning we knew he was sad that he got caught. Now we know he’s also sad that his PR situation has gotten worse and he’s had to “learn” of this tragedy with the media. Even in this letter he maintains…
I agree with your sentiment completely. But with the studio going so far as to even give a movie credit to his accomplice in the rape - beyond ridiculous! The studio either didn’t do it’s due diligence or didn’t care about the accusations and are about to face the repercussions either way.
Strong non sequitur there. I never suggested that Parker be tried again or even that he be held to any account actually. My question was why a purportedly feminist site that frequently excoriates accused rapists is being so careful with its handling of this particular case. If you look through my comments, you’ll see…
How is Jezebel still writing posts on this story in such ambiguous terms? It seems no other case with such clear evidence (multiple witnesses, him inviting other attackers, intimidating her, not taking responsibility) would get anywhere near this type of reception. I get that we want to be supportive of a…
That sub was the man of the match, by far.
Patriarchal Olympic snubs for both genders! Some modicum of equality at least?
Neither the canoeist nor Oliveira have commented on the “scandal” of getting laid, but Oliveira is still posting to social media.
Not making a claim on the veracity of the original rape claim itself, but regardless; it’s not surprising that Broaddrick would be increasingly anti-Hillary and posting more fringe things about her. Like the article states, she clearly believes she suffered and has been ignored.
