You could say that people outside employer plans are screwed over by the employer plans, as they have to pay a much higher marginal cost. The facts of the situation are that Medicare already works. I work as a CPA in the healthcare industry and see the financials. The only way single-payer wouldn’t work is if a conservative asshole legislature refuses to do the math and properly reimburse doctors so that doctors flee the country or something.

The insurance mandates brings insurance premiums down. Do you even know how insurance works? By having more people in the risk pool, you divide the risk. If there are less people on insurance, there are less people sharing the risk and premiums go up.
