The Oklahoma 10 Commandments was the ACLU’s case. The Satanic Temple had nothing to do with it beyond generating headlines for an unrelated stunt.

They’re protesting against the Democratic Party because, at the local level, the politicians who are in control of the Portland and Oregon State politce that have been brutalizing people are all Democrats.

“Elect more Democrats” isn’t a solution, and the mayor, who is also police commissioner, won with 46 percent of

Yeah, to add on to this, by Han gunning down Greedo in not quite cold blood but lukewarm blood (Greedo is going to hand him over to Jabba the Hutt, presumably to be tortured and killed), it starts an arc for the character that doesn’t resolve till almost the very end of the film

it’s honestly something of a surprise

I would have thought that killing Ruby, whom she supposedly loved, and trying to kill Leti after promising Ruby shouldn’t, would have been enough to drain your sympathy.

I thought the backlash to “The Rise of Skywalker” was more focused on the decisions made by the people writing and editing the film than anything.

That’s interesting because I didn’t think there actually was much sorcery or magic in Lone Wolf & Cub. There’s some Buddhism and shinto mysticism, but nothing explicitly supernatural that I recall.

Hot take: I don’t think we should have any statues of child-traffickers standing.

If they were going to make a second season, I’d only want it to go even further away from the original comic and explore the universe more broadly.

Yeah, but early on, Jon is still Jon. He’s still dating the same woman he was in love with before, and he even still leaves her for a younger woman a few decades after.

That’s an interesting ironic interpretation. But it seems like the intent as delivered by the character himself was criticism that someone with all that power would do what he did in Vietnam and leave the world with some many problems and injustices intact.

That’s fair. My preference would be something like The Shield where they torture someone who knows absolutely nothing.

That’s a great point. We should just make sure 2/3 people in writers’ rooms aren’t white for the next 100 years since it won’t affect the creative product at all and it corrects a historical injustice of white supremacy.

Why do you think this is an individual worker issue rather than a league-wide one?

Say what you will about John Wayne Gacy, at least he wasn’t a cannibal.

You could hit someone when they were already on the ground. “I like freedom,” he told me emphatically.

Malt liquor. They’ll drink malt liquor in commiseration.

Right, so you’re putting faith in Fucking Magic. And the problem is that when it becomes an actual machine, there are always real problems (and it may never become AM due to unforeseen issues).

We don’t have any other technology that can do it except for hydro-power, and we’ve dammed most places we can dam, which has also resulted in other ecological problems.

I’m unironically 100 percent in favor of going all-in on nuclear energy to replace coal, oil, and natural gas while we take other steps to decarbonize our economies, reforest, and the like.
