I feel like the import ban is just ridiculous here. I feel like in general a crime is only a crime if a person or group is in some way harmed, or going to be harmed. (financially, physically, mentally etc). These cars though don’t harm much anyone. Maybe a case could be made on emissions, but then we’d have to crack

The comedy of it all is claiming that the 25-year exemption for emissions and safety regulations is to keep unsafe, “dirty” cars out.

Not always as black and white as you may think. A friend who was a little drunk took his girlfriends phone and through it out the balcony because she kept filming him while he was playing poker with us and the only reason she was doing it was to piss him off. She called the cops and he was arrested. He pled guilty

Because the police never lose, take, or destroy private property “on accident”. There were hundreds of people who had guns confiscated after Hurricane Katrina and never got them back. The number of people who imply they trust cops to do that but don’t trust them to do even the most basic functions of their jobs never

My doctor wanted me to get a colonoscopy, but my insurance would not cover any of it because I’m under 50. I never bothered to find out the actually cost of the procedure but 15 minute consultation I had with the GI doctor cost me $400.

Currently, with fair to good insurance a Colonoscopy is at least $700 to $1,000 in added costs that are not covered by insurance. I’m over 50 and have delayed mine because quite frankly I can not afford it. That’s today.

I just had a colonoscopy a few months ago for digestive issues, it was $3800 (my out of pocket costs)....I’d take $1600 all day long....heck give me a double.

No such thing as “above top secret”. If you don’t know your subject, ask someone who does before you write it down and look like an idiot.

My view: thousands of years, people have not spoken ill of the dead in the immediate aftermath. I think this is a good tradition.

The captain and crew certainly wouldn’t complain to the press, it’s not their place. I would be shocked if they offered the same assessment to their superiors though.

You must.

The way I read the article and the way the title implies... is that EMALS sucks and it does not work... the NAVY is sticking with it and Trump said NO... “I said no you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good.“

You are correct.. We had big article about this ship and about the F35, how concurrent engineering/production was a mess and how the electromagnetic catapult didn’t work.

This ^^^. Everything across the multiple sites - Jalopnik, FA, Gizmodo etc. is anti-Trump at every opportunity. Just stop already. It’s transparent and obvious and completely disgusting.

I have no pull either way politically on this, but as I was reading this I had the exact same thought.

Yep,

Ballaban can’t stomach writing anything but anti Trump propaganda.

Foxtrot was one of my favorites, not I can hardly read it because of his constant political avalanche.

PS - I’m not pretending to have any idea of what works and doesn’t on carriers and/or planes. And I’m not even a trump supporter (didn’t vote for him if you are wondering). But the media has gotten so shrill about trump it’s not even worth listening to anymore. Every single thing is the end of the world. Didn’t you

It feels to me like the last time this carrier was mentioned on foxtrot alpha, it was all about how bad the new system was, how the carrier doesn’t work, and how they should do steam.

We have been there since 1953 (that’s 64 years and counting) after fighting a bloody war. Honor the sacrifices made by solving the damn problem and moving on to challenges more worthy and with a better return on investment.

That’s not really the case. Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine (which you mention) all voluntarily gave up their nuclear weapons.
