I'm using the rented one right now, and I get about 190mbps with Time Warner. While a better modem would probably show benefits, this one might not!

I’ve met more than one person who claimed to be in witness protection. I’m pretty sure not a single one of them actually was.

Someone else earlier in the thread was saying that air force pilots, when faced with the choice of an emergency landing on the Area 51 strip or simply ejecting, they are to eject.

He was chief of the CIA for a while, so it's very likely.

Having not touched GTAV Online in over a year after getting thoroughly sick of the 12 year old trolls who seemed to know a lot about my mom's sex life, but couldn't tell that they were playing GTA and not Call of Duty, I'd be interested to know if the general social environment of the game has improved since I left.

I've never even played it, but I've heard that the pirated DRM-free versions were superior to the bogged down "official" copies.

In Minecraft, you don't get some fancy-schmancy computer box with all the robotic controls built in waiting for you to hook wires up. You have to make your own logic circuitry piece by piece. You basically have to replicate each individual transistor.

I think this is 90% of it right here. You really can tell the difference between someone who thoroughly loves and knows the story and someone who's just making a film to capitalize on intellectual property.

No, they're generally more interested in punishing the victims whenever they finally decide to fight back.

It's probably cheaper than a new plane...

Some years later:

Why is he measuring in foot-pounds?

Legally, animals cannot consent. Where does science say that animals are incapable of communication?

Funny you should mention that - there's another story about a woman who had relations with a male dolphin.

Dolphins are highly sexual creatures, and generally aren't against inter-species action in the wild. While this story is one of the more detailed accounts, it is far from the only one. As for consent, that's

I'm a guy, I work around other guys. Can confirm: Men are stupid.

I must ask, how old are you? How many jobs have you had? You don't seem to have a very good practical understanding of the relationship between workers and employees, nor the issues of economic necessity that would override a 'free market' approach to employment opportunities. I generally don't use appeal to age, as

They're saying it's illegal to pay less than 15 an hour because a worker's time is valued more highly. At any rate, this wage change is supposed to only affect companies with a certain profit margin at first - companies that are already guilty of hoarding cash.

Frosty, I suggest you learn about the history of labor in the USA, particularly around the time of the second industrial revolution and moving forward into the emergence of unions.

The reason we know that corporations would do this kind of thing is that they were perfectly willing to do it when it was legal.

While some of those things are definitely true, we're not talking about the taxpayer-funded militant gangs roaming the streets... We're talking about McDonalds and the fact that they would pay slave wages if there wasn't someone saying they couldn't.

Because they are benefiting from structures set up by the state which allow them to do business in the first place. The state is (supposed to be) charged with protecting the rights of citizens, and this means that they are allowed to prevent parties which intend to simply take advantage of the population.
