The Bay-esthetique: the merchandise-able mask is stuffed up and “worn in” and gritty. The actual wardrobe is perfectly spotless and wrinkle free to please sponsors. That “down in the trenches” urban vigilante is wearing what looks like $200 worth of Urban Outfitters, paid for by his mom.

Lots of shade from you, but they are re-using an existing building for something rather than tearing it down (creating waste) or letting it sit and rot. Kudos to them. I know you probably think that Bass Pro Shops are for rednecks (they are!) but they are actually fun places to visit just for the experience, even if

This.

I interpreted that as Leia taking the saber.

Sweet Jesus, someone who uses something other than a Mac. And it’s a Chromebook Pixel, no less!

Re. The explosion.

Someone had a lot of friends with restaurants.

I recognize I am in the minority but I really liked Legacy. It told a pretty touching Father/Son story.

Man, I wish I could find the clip of Gamera's spin landing, because it's way awesomer.

Look out, broad side of a barn...oh, wait, it's a Stormtrooper, never mind.

If you cut out the gratuitous 80s references, what is left?

I might get some flack for this, but the second series of Futurama on Comedy Central.

They threw out EVERYTHING about the first!!!!

While I appreciate all the references and how it celebrate 80s/geek culture, I thought the book was alright. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as great as people, who recommended the book to me, lead me to believe. So perhaps, it was a case where people hyped it up too much for me.

I really liked the novel. I agree about all of your points on Spielberg, though. I also think that the big screen could do the story justice!

I read the book and I didn't love it. I was born in the late 80s, so most of the intense 80s references either fell flat for me or were missed entirely. While I liked the story and the setting, over the course of the book I got more and more tired of these references.

I will shoot you like a duck!

Agreed. He already made the comprehension to Destiny in this very article calling it just as bad. So any idea of people trying to prove Kotaku or Jason being biased should have been obvious by that. Regardless if an article was written about it or not.
