I think it’s kinda ridiculous that rape is where they draw the line. Yeah it’s grotesque but how is violently dismembering people not? Really, what’s the difference between them? Games like Mortal Combat, where dismemberment is gone into excruciating detail, sit on the store page and no one bats an eye.

But just murder is fine? Kidnapping, torturing, and genocide, all fine? Did the characters in those games give consent to do any of that? Other arguments exist no doubt but consent is certainly not one of them.

So the distinction here is the victim’s emotional state immediately before being murdered? There are plenty of games that allow you to murder terrified and defenseless civilians. GTA, Red Dead, Hitman, Watch_Dogs, Kane & Lynch, Call of Duty, Sleeping Dogs, Assassin’s Creed, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Just Cause, Saints…

I don’t understand why anyone would find this disturbing and not the GTA series. You must consider rape to be worse than murder. In GTA you can beat innocent people to death with a baseball bat, steal their money, then shoot the police who show up to arrest you.  Why the lack of outage there?  Murder is okay but rape…

I mean, I don’t really want to defend a fucking RAPE game here, because frankly, a game like this probably shouldn’t even exist. But it now does exist... and so I feel somewhat compelled to question why rape in games crosses a line, as where the endless stream of games that allow you to STRAIGHT FUCKING MURDER PEOPLE…

The original comment is just one of many reasons people started this. It’s really unfortunate that the author doesn’t mention any of these and seems a little biased in my opinion.

Taking the original twitter spat alone, her behavior was ridiculous. She posted a multi-tweet essay, essentially, to a public space. Someone respectfully commented on that essay and she began passively insulting him.

I cannot believe most people are falling for this trolling. And both the supporters and reactions are equally ridiculous.
