It’d be funny of Netflix came in a hoovered up all of the dumped content and ate Discovery’s lunch.

It’s amazing to me how the best adaptions of the games remain W. S. Anderson films simply because he at least had schlock that didn’t take itself seriously in the slightest.
And the villain for the unproduced 8th season: Kinja!
It always baffled me why Sava reviewed these superhero shows. He seemed to hate all that he reviewed. And he loved to bag on these shows, which remember all had a production budget of $12, about their set design, with Agents of SHIELD frequently taken to task for their inadequate set dressing. The only one he…
Keeping Tala Ashe as a regular but as a different Zari was the kind of thing that at first infuriated and saddened me, but then turned into a triumph, especially as the two Zaris became supportive of each other
Stop pretending this is the same AV Club as 6 months ago.
The only way I’ve been able to recreate the experience of watching The Return is... re-watching The Return. What a special, special season of television.
Man did those albums sound good late at night with someone special. Or with nothing but memories of that someone special. Pure fucking magic. Even tho she was upset her performance was truncated on the episode (and available in full on the set,) it was great to have her back for The Return. Speaking of pure fucking…
They probably figure that there’s not enough of us old timers left here to notice or raise much of a stink about it.
The head of CN was fired last week despite only being on the job less than a year. WBD head honcho Zaslav is pissed at how pitiful the CN area of HBO Max is doing and has essentially given CN an ultimatum that they need a cartoon to bring in tons of new subscribers ASAP. Doesn't help that the CN head in charge before…
In my experiance Christian colleges go either super-prude - or super-bent. Bushnell Univerity in Eugene (another Christian College) was the super-bent type. My friend from high-school - a super-committed Christian horse-girl type who was going to become a nun - went there.
One of the things King did really well in the novel was to beyond just standard Cold War-era distrust of the government to portray The Shop as fundamentally incompetent. It’s an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful government agency that is apparently staffed exclusively with morons, Rainbird notwithstanding. Hell,…
Besson is a master at showing us what we need to know in an enjoyable way instead of telling us. If he starts narrating it’s probably because it would take too long otherwise or has no entertainment value, like background voiceover or translating glyphs to get it over with, even then with an interesting matte or some…
Willis is the key to the movie’s success. Like his character, he doesn’t seem to understand what’s going on half the time, but he accepts it all in a very deadpan fashion. It’s a great performance.
Valerian is another one that looks like a million bucks, but even more than Element, is not improved in any way by knowing what’s actually going on or hearing any of the dialogue.
Truly one of my favorite movies ever. My wife and I quote it endlessly. Just last month my work issued badges we are required to wear in the building. Of course the first thing we both said was “Multipass”. Our favorite restaurant is nicknamed chicken good. Lol
I think it was Colbert interviewing Anderson Cooper, where he just roasted the name CNN+. Basically, “How is it CNN+ if you cannot watch CNN on it?”
I think it’s fair to say that this movie was great *because* of Whedon and not in spite of him. I know it’s in vogue to declare that the guy is an irredeemable monster and dismiss all of his strengths as a result, but he is an incredible talent who has produced a lot of top-tier work.
Goddamn it Dolly, stop being the best person ever. The rock purists won't complain as much and she looks like a good sport letting someone else get it. Boy I wish more country people like her and not Charlie Daniels.
They should do a Catwoman Beyond movie or series, with Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle mentoring a younger Catwoman
