Yeah no they aren't gonna find a better Moana.  The Rock was a lot of fun in the original but I'm of the opinion Auli'i was the big standout.  She was absolutely fantastic, comparable to Paige O'Hara as Belle.  I don't see anyone doing as good, but this project in general is just a massive question mark of why one

oh i disagree about diesel not wanting to be a star (sort of).

At least they got the continent right..

Look, you can’t expect the A.V. Club’s current crop of writers to know that there’s more than one large city in South America.

Was thinking just that while reading the review. Most of it took place in Rio...

It is! I’d assumed it was a feature before reading this article. There were some giveaways, such as when it’s called a “new short film” and mentions of it as a “31-minute movie”.

Exactly 0% of Fast Five takes place in Buenos Aires.

Is women swooning over Ethan really a trope in these movies? He’s been married to the same person since the third one.

Thank god you’re here to save us from potentially having any fun.

Neither. It’s more “boring waste of time.” Imagine a train derailing at 3 mph, such that only one car is slightly askew and no one is even injured.

Just because Perlmutter is a bad guy, doesn’t make Feige a good guy.

No, I’m in agreement with that. We can’t have only morally ‘clean’ characters, but what I remember to be the problem was that the audience (i.e., I) was being made to gaze at Mathilda as someone desirable sexually. That’s different from Leon The Character looking at her that way.  It’s icky to me to see Besson moving

Yup. It’s fucking gross. That script was also significantly more violent and Leon is a full-on sociopath. The “no women, no children” rule is still there but otherwise he doesn’t give a shit. Leon trains Mathilda by having her actually kill random people. The script opens with a variation of the rooftop sniper rifle

I generally don’t like that mature-beyond-her-years thing movies do a lot. The Nice Guys is one of the kinda recent examples I can think of.  It plays with this idea that an “old soul” is someone you can talk to at your level, which really means the older man feels okay (and the audience is made to feel okay about)

My spouse made the same point, but I still think that casts it as a behavior that’s fundamentally okay (if unhelpful), rather than the severe moral violation I see it as.

I feel bad for D&D.  They should have either popped it out a few weeks earlier or waited for late Summer.   A week before Mario was a bad idea.

My bet is that it’s the latter portion of that text, where Tucker suggests that the Antifa person might actually a human being, that Fox News knew would offend its viewer base the most.

“If I reduce people to politics, how am I better than he is? From now on, I’m just gonna stick to reducing people to their race.”

I’d argue that a group of guys beating up in full force on one smaller and likely weaker person all alone is EXACTLY how white men fight.

Wellactually rmlohner might be right. The WGA strike would have come at the end of TNG Season One, because Season Two start was delayed a bit AND the producers hauled out the unused PHASE II script “The Child” to help them get back on schedule.

I don’t remember hearing about any WGA issues on S1's “The Neutral Zone,”
