I just wish someone had written up a post on the Hellcats. They were virtually ignored by the Jalopnik staff.

“It looks like a Mazda AMG 5 series ” STOP RIGHT NOW, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE EVERY OTHER FULL SIZE SEDAN ON THE DAMN ROAD. TAKE A SLEEPING PILL AND GO TO SLEEP, WE GET IT. GOOD. GREAT NOW SCREW OFF.
But for the low pipes, I’d bite.
#3 CGI is that really a clip from the movie? That isn’t a spoof someone made? They actually thought we wouldn’t notice a cartoon car instead of a real one?!
I heard nothing.
The truth is out there
Prius?
As a former FD3S RX-7 owner that also suffered apex seal failure, I can tell you it isn’t that bad.
The third gen is probably the worst of the bunch, high boost and poor temperature management meant that it’d break down easily. The N/A ones were very reliable, with race cars going much longer without engine rebuilds vs piston engined cars. The RX-8’s had some issues with cooling/librication early on as well as…
Some of it is true. I’ve owned two FCs and one RX8. Of the FCs one was an NA the other was a Turbo II model. These cars require a lot of maintenance. Plan on changing the oil in the more times than you ever have in any car you’ve ever had. Same with spark plugs.
Past owner of two different FD3S RX-7’s here. Unfortunately, it’s true, BUT it’s due to the constant stress that the driver puts on the engine (increased boost and redlining).
I’ve read into pretty deeply, and they aren’t unreliable, they just require very frequent maintenance, and to be driven regularly. I ruled it to be not worth it for myself, but if you’re really handy with a wrench and have some space to work on it and the capacity to learn how it works, it can be very rewarding. FD’s…
There’s some truth to it, but probably not, as long as you’re religiously on top of the maintenance.
Everyone commenting on how they’re all the same car- it’s totally possible these concepts will have more going on underneath, y’know.
You have strange tastes, this is a better Aston than recent Astons.
You don’t even know what this new engine will be like, so let’s think about that before trying to use a 20+ year old engine to criticize one that’s not even out. Might as well say “The Apple Newton was terrible so obviously the iPhone must be terrible”
Personally, I think it would be best with an M159 6.2l V8.
