My dad had the plain ol SE as a work car that he bought from Hertz Car Sales. With the 5 spoke wheels and the spoiler on the back we my brother and I thought it was so cool. But I really wanted us to have the SSEi with its supercharged V6, that would have taken cool to a whole different level!

Yep, FWD V8 and eventually got the Northstar V8

Ms. Fawcett!

My 10 year reunion was in 2015 and we had one - we had a huge graduating class of like 500 and we probably had 80-100 people there. We all had a really good time - I too wished it could have been held at our high school but the district wouldn’t allow an event with alcohol, which I assume is why most reunions end up

I don’t have much to add to what Car And Driver said except to say it would be a mistake to buy the Z4 if driving dynamics were your primary concern.

My parents’ 1982 BMW 528e 5-speed. They had it from the time I was born until I was 7 when the timing belt broke and it was replaced with a... wait for it... 1995 Lumina minivan.

@Planktron me too! My aunt had this same wagon but on the platform mate Chevy Celebrity. Hers was a 1988 in a light blue color with blue cloth interior. My cousin and I would fight our siblings to be able to sit in the ‘way back’. I remember the smell of that car like it was yesterday.

What phone do you have? I have an iPhone and I use Safari and I can’t get the comments to load at all. It shows the preview of the first comment but if I click ‘view comments’ nothing happens. It also will not allow me to log into Kinja anymore on my phone. This is all as of at least a couple months ago. I know

It really is. I want to know where the beautiful V60 and V90 wagons fall into this, especially the V90 since it’s special order only. Those are the ones I would really want to drive.

I realize that these SAVs are built in South Carolina, so it’s not like they’re going to ship half completed cars to Europe to be completed by Alpina then shipped back to the US, but I am really surprised to hear they will be completely assembled at the Spartanburg factory. I was under the impression that Alpina used

On the contrary, I was appreciating that all suggestions were reasonable for a change.

The last BMWs (really, all cars) without infotainment screens are the best. When I found my E39 540i it was specifically one that did not have navigation. It’s too soon to tell but I predict that the values for those will remain higher over time. Can you imagine trying to deal with a screen circa 2004 in 50 years? I

Not exactly - there’s “quality” and “luxury”. Mercedes-Benzes have always (more accurately used to...) stand for quality and longevity which is why they have been used as fleet and taxi vehicles overseas for decades. Having stripped down fleet spec vehicles is nothing new. But in the US we like our brands to be

Omg this comment thread just got better and better the further I read hahaha thank you all

Why does the LX570 exist when you could get a Land Cruiser for less? I couldn’t give you a clear reason, but that’s beside the point.

Now playing

I completely agree with you and this is exactly why I like cars that are 20+ years old over new ones. I don’t want all the technology and gadgets, I just want something that feels like there was care in material choice and assembly (and heft of operation in the doors and switches is also satisfying).

I’m with you, I’m extremely pro-forest. This is just such a particular scenario that doesn’t fall into typical ‘rampant deforestation’

Okay, enough with the “Tesla is cutting down a forest!” sensationalism. They aren’t cutting down the Amazon, these are not wild trees. They were planted by humans in straight lines specifically to be cut down for paper products (as mentioned in the attached article). Yes, it’s technically a forest, but I guess “Tesla

That may have been the case at some point (and may still be with some models) but the reviews of the Telluride have been out of the park, including for material quality.
