Tall people exist in Japan too. Gaijin aren’t super weird in Tokyo and Yokohama so I wouldn’t worry about it if you just want to go to there. I imagine the other big cities are similar. If you go out to the countryside, you’ll probably stick out but that would just be because you’re foreign not because you’re a giant.

I’m not so sure about that. I think PSX games have a different kind of nostalgia than Nintendo and Sega games. In general, Sega and Nintendo titles are collectors items whereas PSX games are just games people want to go back and play. There’s no Playstation equivalent of Snatcher, Earthbound or Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Collectors prefer playing the game as it was originally released on real hardware. Earthbound is still $150+ despite being on virtual console.

Basically, it boils down to Japan’s constitution renounces their ability to use military force as a way to settle international disputes but for a while has been read in a way to allow them to maintain a self-defense force in case they get attacked.
