It was the first game that popped into my mind.

I really hope they do.

I couldn’t agree more. I will always hold a special spot in my heart for Battlefield 2142. I remember being upset that it was coming out so quickly after BF2, thinking there’s no way it could be as polished and complete as BF2 was, but once I tried it I was hooked and realized how great Dice can be.

It was easily my favorite Battlefield. So unique, and it really brought Battlefield into the era of kit customization and modern feeling gameplay.

Yeah, I think they were Gamespy servers. EA canned all multiplayer support for all their older PC games including all of the Battlefield games before Bad Company 2. You need to use GameRanger or Hamachi now.

The Punkbuster kicks were definitely frustrating, and I remember people glitching into the crates on the Titans. But 2142 was still the most fun game of the franchise in the sense of the word “fun.” Floating tanks, jet helicopters, and walkers, plus shields and other unique futuristic weaponry gave it a more

EA shut down the server backend for this and many other PC gaming titles, including the more popular BF2. The only way to play 2142 online now is through GameRanger or Hamachi. But 2142 needs at least 32 players to really shine.

Battlefield Vietnam was also fantastic!

I played more BF3 than 2142 but 2142 will always be my favorite Battlefield game. It was so unique, and it was the first Battlefield game to have somewhat modern feeling gunplay. I loved the unique differences between the weapons and vehicles between the EU and PAC factions. Plus walkers and the Titan mode!

Russian isn’t a race, it’s a nationality and ethnic background.

I would absolutely love to go back and play Battlefield 2142 like when it was still popular.

Oh my god, there’s a bottom bar now!?

Three assigned spots?

I agree, it’s certainly not indestructible or infallible but it’s still impressive. 60 mph is plenty fast to be running on tracks.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Ripsaw vehicles from Howe and Howe Tech can do upwards of 60 mph. They developed their own track technology that can handle much higher speeds than traditional tank tracks which break down after certain speeds. AFAIK nobody else has achieved this kind of speed reliably with treads.

Reminds me of when my white trash neighbor’s teenagers tried to do a donut in my cul-de-sac on a very hot summer afternoon a few weeks after the road surface was recently recovered.

That’s what your imagination is for.
