Agreed, flat UI is awful. Its very poor at allowing the eye to easily and quickly differentiate between elements such as buttons vs text/images/symbols/etc. Using 3D elements helps with this differentiation. They really do. I say this as a happy AMD GPU user, usually Nvidia’s graphics effects are better than AMD’s but in this case those Nvidia shadows are pretty awful.

Have you tried updating to the latest graphics drivers from Nvidia? They introduce optimizations specifically for GTA V. I installed the AMD beta drivers for my 7870 and that smoothed everything out dramatically. Two friends of mine used the new Nvidia drivers and noticed improved performance.

I’m not trying to diminish what your buddy did but I’ve done this multiple times in BF over the years, and while I felt really good about it, I’ve never thought it was something worth sharing on the internet. This kind of thing happens more often than you’d think in BF.
