Yes, this is often a big problem in superhero fiction. Even when the hero is Superman, stopping the fall of a person requires deceleration, and we hardly ever see that - if Superman is rising when he catches a falling Lois Lane, she'd be just as bruised and broken as if she had hit the ground.
Now if we could just ignore the physics of rapid deceleration....

The coming-back-from-not-really-dead thing is weird, but I think the idea of Batman Inc. makes sense on some level. He'd been collecting proteges and allies for a long time, this is just an explicit expression of that same idea taken to its extreme.
