The 2008 DNC was in Denver. The NYT used photos from Obama’s rally in St. Paul when they announced his nomination. Several examples are available at the link below
In a way, this moment made me appreciate the feelings of the most upset Sanders supporters. I had no idea how strongly I felt until I saw this. I won’t laugh at their tears anymore. There needs to be some room for emotion in a world that runs on snark and cynicism.
Right up there with; “when is the straight pride parade?”
Right. Because every mother’s son hasn’t been told that for 200+ years. They may have forgotten?
As a minority man who cried when O made his run, I love that the country finally is line to place a woman at the top. Seeing those women - young and old - relishing the historic moment was breathtaking and awesome. I wish my mom would have lived to see this moment. I feel what they feel because I felt it with O and I…
This would’ve been an excellent opportunity to say, you know, “Whether you’re a boy or you’re a girl, both of you, my job will be to make sure it’s equally an option for both of you.
No. I mean abuse. Not physical, but abuse. I know the difference.
“the primary argument people are making in support of a Clinton vote is about stopping Trump.”
Except Clinton’s history as a public servant says otherwise. And she’s a pragmatist. I could give two shits about why she stands by her man - does it give her continued access to a political machine? Our political history is full of that. In fact, it is very hard to get anything done if you are not an insider. That…
“You know who the movie in the Citizens United case was attacking, right?”
You are about the dozenth person to point this out, and every single one of you has given me the impression that you are dudes. I’m sensing that there is a certain bruising of man-ego that doesn’t allow for any acknowledgement that maybe (just fucking maybe) the newspapers might have fucked up this morning.
She wasn’t at the nominating convention, were they supposed to use a stock photo?
I feel like people truly have no idea who she is. She’s been fighting for women and children and families her entire life. Personally and politically. It’s amazing and saddening how much people have bought into the narrative of untrustworthy, flip-flopping, craven, politically motivated Hillary.
La Opinion got it right. They had to use a file photo since Hillary only showed up by video last night, but this seems like a situation where you can do that.
This is why I've drifted over to the Hillary side over the past few years. The fact is, despite our progress toward political and economic equality, women are still regarded as an accessory or something to look at rather that someone to listen to. Hillary confounds so many because she simply uses the same tactics that…
Um clearly you don’t understand how hard it is to put a woman on the front page. Women don’t actually exist in the plane of reality, you see, they are more like intangible, theorized concepts. Like...a hypercube, for example. It’s just really hard to photograph something that clearly does not exist.
Funny how almost all of the people spouting that particular brand of idiocy are white, straight men. I’m sure it’s just a weird coincidence, though.
They were getting so desperate to find something to snark about during Bill’s speech that they just stopped talking about it.
Hello! To clarify: I was not being snarky—quite the opposite.
