I recently re-watched the first 4 seasons. It is definitely way more cheesy than I remember it being, but I actually still really enjoyed the re-watch. The show has this weird, almost campy energy that I didn’t appreciate the first time around.

Hey, same with me- uh i mean, the guy i know
I...uh....know a guy who used to do some coke from time to time. And this guy actually preferred to do it at home, alone, or maybe with like one friend over who was also partaking. The guy would tell me that it was a lot more fun in that setting, where you could control the music and/or TV selection, and not have to…
I would have read this but it’s a Slideshow. Nope.
YES. Here’s a few of the old movies I watched for the first time this year, with my snap judgments for each:
How did you see it already? It drops tomorrow on Netflix (or so I thought)...I have been looking forward to it!
My biggest concern is that from the review it doesn’t seem like this adaptation is going to convey the immense scale of the destruction, which is ESSENTIAL to the story.
I am holding out hope that as Defector becomes more and more successful and proves that an employee-run cooperative model can succeed as opposed to the rotting husk of Kinja, maybe AVClub’s writers/editors will jump ship and go independent themselves.
Taste the Nation was really great! Definitely feels like Bourdain’s shows, striking a nice balance between serious/fun. Padma is an effortless, easygoing host, despite being, as Katie correctly points out, “intimidatingly stylish”.
“Part of that could be that it doesn’t have apps on most things, so I have to cast from another device to my TV, but that’s terrible and annoying itself.”
TPAB has some great moments (Wesley’s Theory, Hood Politics, King Kunta), but it’s a step below DAMN., 2 steps below “untitled unmastered.” and 3 steps below GKMC.
Yeah this album sucked out loud.
A friend of mine recently got divorced and moved into a condo. I bring up something from this scene every time we talk. For example, “Have you met your neighbors yet, are any of them a major player down at the sewing store?” “What are you up to this weekend, patio party?”
Top 5 episode without question, maybe top 3. The amount of great lines and bits is off the charts.
Yeah that’s the best explanation I could come up with too...but the biggest problem was simply that Nicole Kidman was on the stand. “Declaration against interest” can only apply when the declarant is unavailable for cross examination.
A Best Picture winners column would rule. The Academy’s hit rate on Best Picture winners is actually surprisingly good, definitely better than I thought it would be. But they’ve also made some truly baffling decisions (Crash, Argo, Green Book). It would also be interesting to look back at films that were consensus…
Even if Nicole Kidman hadn’t done the ol’ double cross, Haley’s decision to put her on the stand was inexcusable. What was the master plan for that witness? Have her set forth her “expert” opinion on Hugh Grant’s character? How much of an expert could she be when she had zero knowledge of his infidelity? Did she ever…
But she repeatedly used the “Declaration against interest” exception which was the wrong one to use! A “declaration against interest” is “a statement made by a declarant who is unavailable that is against the declarant’s pecuniary, proprietary, or penal interest when it was made.”
Dexter would be an interesting one to re-visit. Yes it got really bad (I gave up after season 5), but I remember that first season being pretty great, as well as S2 and S4.
I read this book back in 2017 after seeing Vance on some cable news show, where he was presented as “the guy you should listen to who can explain Trump’s appeal to rural voters.”
