I think we are all living in an elaborate sequel to the movie The Others.
It’s so odd how when it is citizens who are being observed, questioned, and surveiled, it’s “If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about!” And then when it’s the police being subject to the very same behavior, it’s suddenly a privacy violation and inhibits their ability to do their jobs.…
I... don’t think you know what curbstomping is. Merely being stepped upon while on the sidewalk doesn’t make the cut.
Apparently in Texas you do not have to identify yourself to the police unless you are under arrest. So if they arrested her for not identifying herself, they got the law backwards.
This is as important a story as Deadspin has ever done. My contempt for Hardy, Jones and Goodell is matched only by my admiration for Diana’s epic reporting.
And much respect to Deadspin for not letting this one go and publishing what they have.
This is beyond horrifying.
In my industry, it’s “rock star!” and “life-changer!” or . . . whats’ the one that really gets me. . . oh god “zen peace . . . zen peace change maker!” (to me, that sounds like she’s breaking people’s cash into quarters for their laundry). It’s always SO self-important.
SAME. I have friends that are the representation for them.
Trust me the agency representation of these people is the god damn worse. I work in TV with creatives, and the calls from these assholes about their clients is so dumb. But they are at even big agencies and they whine when you are mean to them. headaches for all.
It’s a job. It can come with representation, like from an agency. It is the worst.
