High-octane fuel does not magically have more energy in it, it can just be compressed more before self-igniting. If an engine is designed for regular, then it doesn’t have enough compression to take advantage of that.
No. Higher octane fuel will not give you more power on a stock car. The ECU can advance or delay timing to prevent knocking but it’s not like it magically reads the octane on the fuel and decide to give your engine more power
If you drive a car which requires premium, but you can’t afford premium, then you are driving a car you cannot afford to begin with.

Way back when, I worked at a grocery store. We had a greeter who was your typical 80-something year old retiree. He drove a Z06 convertible every day. Even the dead of winter.
