Turbos are clearly the easiest and most cost effective way for OEMs to hit the EPA and CAFE numbers while still getting performance from the motor. I don't think they are trying to do what they say, I think what they are trying to do is hit the EPA numbers

I'm not sure sure why this gets consistently over looked but turbo motors (any turbo motor) usually gets excellent mileage when kept in low to minimum boost.
