The backstretch at Sebring is an airport runway. Like the rest of the track, it's the opposite of smooth. To your right is a concrete wall, maybe five or six feet off the pavement. At the end of the braking zone is a wall. A hard wall. If your brakes fail, you're going straight into it. It's a theme for the whole

Thanks for the compliments, obviously I posted the disclaimer at the very beginning so everyone knew where I was coming from, nothing to cover up. I mean where are you coming from with that? I'm not even attempting to try and say otherwise, but I do understand their complaints in regards to my experience with Mk VI

Man, and I also have wanted a WRX / STi badly, but always found a reason not to buy one, usually the price. My problem was the reaction of company, I mean every single manufacturer out there is going to put an absolutely crap example on the market, shit happens, not everything is 100%, I get that and it's fine. But

There is nothing wrong with the GTI, it's a great car, it's a really fantastic "regular, real" car, but that doesn't change my opinion of it. And that's what it is, an opinion, I want something more on edge, more raw and more involving. After all my wife drives a Prius, so I get my "balance" between the two cars and

You mean to tell me the suspension and steering etc between a Mk VI and Mk VII has no similarities? That's a Hell of a schmuck comment to make especially in a place that is about having discussions.

Oh and I HIGHLY doubt it was damaged, I special ordered it, salesman was a friend, I tracked the order, he sent me pictures the day it was unloaded off the transporter, I saw and drove the car that night and took delivery a day later.

Drivers door wasn't hung properly. Look okay from outside, but wasn't sealing, bad wind noise etc. Dealer butchered the car after that. Nothing fishy. Oddly it was built on Super Bowl Sunday, not that, that should matter, but still it was.

I can tell you that while I haven't driven a MkVII GTI, I work for a VW dealer and strongly wanted to buy a MK VI about a year and a half ago (because that's when I needed a car, too long until the VII came out.) For those curious I ended up buying a Focus ST which had body fit issues and then the dealers (plural)

A Porsche might not seem like a sensible choice for a teenager, a good 924 or 944 will be dead reliable, easy to work on, and beautifully balanced. Plus, 924s can be had for not a ton of money and the later 924S had a detuned 944 engine. Just avoid turbo versions of both.

They've gotten better since then, no question. But they still haven't lived that reputation down."

The W201 generation Mercedes 190E was known for it's excellent reliability and over-engineered brilliance. It's successor the W202 C-Class was not known for either of those things, rather, it was known for dodgy electronics, and it's propensity to rust. The cheapening of Mercedes began here.

This is the car that cemented the Beetle's reputation as a "girl's car." Something that VW is still trying to live down today, with the masculine style of the current-gen Beetle.

I agree 100% as we get more and more systems in place that let us get away with mistakes and not paying attention we start to rely on them to do the job since they will step in and do it for us anyway (this is human nature.) For example, why bother checking your mirror before changing lanes if you have a little amber

I agree, none of these make you a better as in more skilled or less prone to mistakes, driver. Only proper training and perfect practice (perfect practice makes perfect, if you practice the wrong thing over and over it's not going to make you any better,) will make you a better driver. These are really more like, "10

Traction control can not only help keep you out of a ditch when your car is out of control, but it can make you look like an absolute hero on the track. The Ferrari 458 Speciale has a system called side-slip control or SSC, that allows you to hold big slides on the track without worry.

I'll take two!

But why? How come, all of the sudden, ignition switches are an issue? These have been an integral part of basically every single car built since the dawn of cars. Did someone forget how to do it? This really shouldn't be an issue.

... But if you have an extra set of these wheels sell them now! the kids are literally putting them on everything from e46's to old beat, Mk IV Golf / GTIs.

Why the SPG over other rare saab variants of the time? The simple fact is that you can still get one before they explode. Some oddball special editions like the "Springtime in Sweden" edition that ended up in AMerica somehow are likely going to stay in collector's hands if they aren't there already. But there are
