In my headcannon, after his stint as Director doesn’t go as planned and he gives the job to someone more qualified, he joins the Exiles.

Even Deke stranded in yet another universe and even further in the past got to be not only music god but also Director of SHIELD.
I had the opposite reaction to this season. While I loved the character development, the Hargreeves should’ve been united as a team since the season premiere. Although the subplots were well handled, this is the show I’ve been wanting to watch for whole season.
Well at least all those bullet holes in the house and barn give Sissy an easy excuse for what happened to Carl.
I really like Page’s work here. It can be muted, which I think is in line with Vanya’s repression, but she played her emotional scenes with a really beautiful vulnerability. The relationship between Vanya and Sissy was more tender and sweet than it was passionate. They seemed to be taking emotional refuge from a world…
I enjoyed this season a lot more than Caroline did, I think, although it’s definitely not without its flaws. I have come to realize over years of watching the assassination as a plot device that I no longer give a single solitary shit about whether JFK lives or dies. But I didn’t mind it so much here, especially since…
But Hargreaves is dead in the original timeline’s 2019 (as far as we know). I don’t doubt he could have faked his death, but it’s another indication that things are different now.
They’re not necessarily in an alternate timeline.
while season two started strong only to struggle in its back half.
Luther blocked a bazooka in the opening fight scene of the season but a bullet killed him in this one. That bothered me
I don’t know if I missed it (I watch this show for fun, not with a mind to critque), but do we ever find out why Klaus doesn’t tell the rest of the sibs about Ben? Because that always seemed like a weird choice because they already know about Klaus’s abilities.
The ending here reminded me a little of the ending of (the terrible) GLASS from last year. The show set up a big Dealey Plaza showdown, and ended in a field somewhere. It also seemed to crib from Looper, The Abyss and The Green Mile. Also 5 proves he’s tougher than the Baratheon Twins.
I agree that the relationship problems seemed to have more depth at the beginning. The show might have bitten off more than it could chew in that respect, because tertiary characters are NEVER gonna get enough time to flesh out a decent plotline. Certainly not on a halfway comedy show about inept superheroes. I give…
I think Caroline’s reviews have been (mostly) on point. You don’t need to be The Wire to wish Ben got more material this season so that his sacrifice would have more weight to it. That Diego’s plot concludes without him really learning anything is a fair observation. I mean, this is just...good criticism?
The Handler’s coronation look is incredible.
Reading the premise and early reviews of this, all I could think of was Red Dwarf, which managed to get some serious mileage out of what the vending machine repairmen on a starship got up to.
Ensign Mariner’s speaking pace was so quick I thought I was watching Gilmore Girls. It hangs a lampshade on a number of things that I thought was clever. The fact that the command crew get all the glory despite everyone else’s participation was a nice touch. Overall I thought it was in the same vein as The Orville,…
It’s a popular opinion elsewhere, but Zack Handlen’s signature review style for modern Trek is to give every episode a B and then shit on it endlessly in the review.
So is Ensign Mariner the Captain’s daughter and also has a father who is an Admiral and the Captain’s hubby? Well, that explains why she just got demoted rather than kicked out of Starfleet. Looking like some mother/daughter tension here going forward.
Is this an unpopular or popular opinion? I enjoyed the first episode.
