I am no engine designer, but wouldn’t the pushrod configuration also provide a low-rpm torque advantage vs. The DOHC engines of comparable hp? Not trolling, just trying to learn a bit. Thanks.

This. Thank you, Sire.
No, he’s actually right. Every great handling sedan is RWD or AWD at the least. AMGs, Ms etc are this way. Cadillac’s lauded CTS chassis? Yep. S class? As lux buyers we won’t go for fusion spec fwd crap. That’s one of the reasons Lincoln has failed. It does not want to do things right for their target client base. And…
Unfortunately, it does matter. FWD makes for weight transfer to the undriven axle, corrupted steering feel and Taurus platform-prostitution feel. Caddy understands this. Why is it so hard for Lincoln to grasp that? It’s like knowing you need a tux for a special event and spending billions TIME AFTER TIME to show up in…
Hahhaha. Nice troll attempt...Not!
Meanwhile, at the EPA headquarters, VW execs get to know Zed and The Gimp...
Now, about that famed VW reliability, though....
Indeed. People from certain cultural backgrounds that shall not be mentioned tend to believe larger cars are necessarily better. What happens in real life is, size equals heaviness, and in their quest to counter that -sometimes futilely anyway- manufacturers end up with flimsy cars with brittle components (I am…
I’ve said it before here and I’ll do it again: grow some stones. Life IS risk. Do we really need “Danger! This bag can cause suffocation if placed over head” stickers? The nannyfying of all aspects of culture sickens me, and I’m a nearly middle aged guy who hasn’t had a ticket in years. Those who want things dumbed…
This.
I like those numbers. 300ish hp, 2100 pounds. Not an empire’s worth of horses but enough to spin ‘em at will abetted by lightness in curves and braking. Good, good numbers all around
Yes sir that is absolutely right. I’m an industrial designer and yes, the simpler and cleaner an outcome is, the more thought and work went into it. Simple is NOT simple at all.
The numbers are wrong. The veyron hits 60 in 2.5, not three. The hp is 1, 001 claimed and it’s actually upwards of 1, 100 realistic, with the SS version giving more than that. And the whole Hip Hop breakout, already a hit thing....really? Please, fellas, better journalism than that. We are interested in car stories.…
Looks better than the new one.
This.
I kind of do, too
....Aaaaand they missed the mark. The P1 is a decently resolved hypercar. But the F1 was so massively, utterly superior to anything with 4 wheels in its time that Ferrari, Lamborghini and Jaguar had nothing that would even beg for a round and would rather cower in the shower corner while sucking their thumbs. The F1…
My God you must be joking.

Thanks for the explanation. Very informative. They still should have done things right, though, especially if they were aware of the issue. It undermines their efforts elsewhere in the car.
