I don't know, I think often it helps to confine the trolling to one thread as the trolls respond to the "in before..." poster. That's a public service.

There was a great video I saw once that likened sex to musicians jamming, how it's a more or less free-form collaborative experience where everyone needs to focus on each other and work together in order for it to work. I really liked that analogy. Don't remember where I saw the video, unfortunately.

I think that's a bit of an oversimplification. The Nepalese government sets laughably low minimums for things like insurance and compensation (the insurance they require expeditions to get in case their guides get injured or killed doesn't even cover the cost of a helicopter evac, for example), but the expeditions do

Oh yeah, I have a dog who is kind of the same way. I always take a growl (except in play, of course) as a warning, but I have one dog who'll growl at me if I try to take something he really wants away from him...had him 16 years so far and he has yet to even nip anyone. ;) Growling is natural communication, and all

If it makes you feel any better, I grew up with a Chow/Lab mix and I've met probably 5 others,* and all were really wonderful dogs. The one I grew up with could be a bit protective (like one time, my mom was hit by a car while walking her and broke her leg, and the dog wouldn't let anyone near my mom until my mom put

Even if he could be rehabilitated, what's the point? There are plenty of dogs who haven't attacked children and shelter workers that are euthanized every day for lack of homes. It sounds cold, but that's always what I go to when these cases come up and people advocate for the dog to be saved. There are so many dogs

It's a Lab/Chow mix according to the shelter and owners, and it looks like the couple of Lab/Chows I've run across. It definitely doesn't look like a bully breed, although I've seen a lot of people claiming that too. It's obnoxious.

Not quite. LANL is the lab that changed litter types, and WIPP is the storage facility that is shut down. Both in NM, but LANL isn't the long-term storage site.

Yeah, really. My first thought when I saw this was that it's a good indicator that they don't *really* think abortion is murder. If you really thought millions of babies were being murdered every year, would you really make a poster like that?

My dog encountered a drone once and kept leaping up in the air to try to bite it. We thought it was funny until he managed to touch it (but fortunately not grab it). That ended it pretty quick.

I think it's comforting for some people. It's basically the just world fallacy—it gives people a feeling of control in their lives. Bad shit doesn't just happen randomly, it's a punishment from God for something I did! That means if I just stop doing bad things, bad things will stop happening to me!

If you read the varying accounts, it turns out that "right after" means weeks or months after. I've even heard a few people acknowledge that their kid was showing some signs before the vaccine, but they got worse "right after" (again meaning weeks). The vaccine is given around the same age that kids start showing

It does last a surprisingly long time! I go through a bag about every 2 weeks, which is amazing because I have 6 medium- to large-breed dogs. On other foods with a comparable number of dogs I go through twice that, at least.

Yeah, it's definitely comparable to premium brand food. I was feeding mine Taste of the Wild before which is twice as expensive, and my dog who has grain sensitivities was still having issues (he gets itchy feet—shown by excessive licking at them—and hot spots when his diet has even a small amount of grain in it) even

That's not nosy. ;) I feed Kirkland (Costco brand) grain-free food...Nature's Domain I think it's called? They have a salmon variety that makes my picky eaters go nuts and it's a surprisingly high-quality food. I was a little skeptical but the cost was pretty compelling (it's about $30/bag compared to $60 for

Of course they are, they're dogs.

I prefer human food for training treats as well. I use my dog's normal kibble when I need a low-value treat, and use either boiled chicken, cheese or hotdogs for high-value treats. The dogs respond better and I can just pick it up at the grocery store, plus human food is more regulated (food safety wise, anyway) than

You realize people don't feed their animals treats in order to "buy" their love, right? I pretty much only use treats for training anymore, but when I did give my dogs treats it was because I loved them and wanted to spoil them, not because I thought they wouldn't love me if I didn't.

I was on a kayak trip and we were chased by a bull moose for a few miles. At first it was funny like "haha he won't come in the river after us, stupid moose" but then we realized it was late in the day and that fucker was not giving up so got a little worried. He did give up though.

I love and want my own, but the Blood God must be satisfied so I must kill them anyway. :( What's a gal to do?
