Star Trek fans are very much used to fighting through clunky gameplay in order to play in that universe.

Fingers crossed for dlc of some sort lol. Or hopefully it'll be a bigger focus in the third game.
It’s still not anymore of a desert planet than Earth is, which also contains deserts lol. They mention numerous times in the game how the planet is fantastic for all plant growth and wildlife BECAUSE of it’s varied ecosystem.
I kind of wish Coruscant was the big explorable planet. It’s beautifully realized and I enjoyed every second of that first level.
i always think it’s weird when people do this ‘won’t someone please think of the crew!’ stuff. they do not care, got paid already and have moved onto their next thing.
I’m not sure this article needed to end with, “With any luck, this dismal project will never see the light of day.” I’m sure there’s dozens and dozens of hard-working crew members pouring themselves into this production that would rather have it released than thrown on the scrap heap.
I think the fact that most of the main characters in TLoU2 are women will be a big problem for the moron set. But, yeah, the extremely spoilery but also very intersting and well-executed thing TLoU2 does w/r/t gameplay would be hard to really capture in a show or movie.
The Discourse around Abby was *so* fuckin’ weird, and a small section of TLOU community has literally never been able to recover their fractured psyche after Part 2 took away Joel Who Was Actually A Shitty Person But They Have No Media Literacy And So They Made Him Their Video Game Dad.
Gamers hated Part2 because they were put into a sphere that they normally don’t operate in while playing games: self-reflection.
Games have showcased vulnerability before, but they’ve always had a heavy dose of bravado to help it go down. TLOU2 made players go through the very same lesson that Ellie did, without any…
You sure do spend a lot of time typing out comments that skirt the line of defending bigots. Stop dancing around it, just be honest for a change.
Mass Effect 2's combat simply modernized its shooter mechanics to match Gears of War and simplified the RPG skill trees to the barest minimum to be accessible. The reason it was needed, though, was that Mass Effect 1 released when there wasn’t really a standardized control setup for combat, and Bioware didn’t know how…
Ok now, imagine if someone turned your God of War game into an isometric RPG with text only dialog trees. Change is no big deal until it’s something you enjoy.
Not sure why you’re saying fans like it’s ironic. Yes, if the sequel to a series they’ve been waiting on for years comes out and is a fundamentally different type of game, many of them will be disappointed. That’s not new or hard to understand.
I don’t want to go as far as saying the superficial backlash to the violence in the games is the reason the show is less interested in showing those aspects of the characters (it might be), but regardless your point stands and you’re exactly right about the affect on the content this new framing has.
To echo a comment I made on a previous kotaku article (that seems only to get more relevant as more information/episodes are released) It’s not surprising that the changes they’re making seem to bizarrely not understand the appeal of source material. Case in point, toning down the violence - The reasoning behind this…
Going to be tough with no Jess or Jason on Giantbomb. Jess was a breath of fresh air when she came on, and stood her ground. Jason was the last (regular) face of the past. Still reeling from Gerstman’s firing. Game of the Year has been a tradition in this house, but couldn’t even deal with the mess it was this year.…
This quadruple sucks. Jess is great and brought back some of the analytical energy Austin brought with him during his short tenure and while the spirit was different, the new GB crew was doing cool things. Jason Oestreicher who was a great presence too also got fired, which is triple fucked up because the man is quite…
The driver told police that he had been using Tesla’s new “Full Self-Driving,” and if interested, you can view the redacted accident report here:
So you know Paul personally have direct knowledge of the background search he conducted to know the “horse ranch” was on the up and up?
It’s adorable* that a big sale for Nintendo is slashing the price of a $60 game released in 2019 (Link’s Awakening) by a whopping $18.
