Fascinating. I could have easily watched a full half hour of nothing but that. Both those guys and the equipment are the real deal. Very cool post, thanks Michael.

It's worth noting you can connect either an SD card or a USB hard drive to your iPad with stock Apple equipment. Buy the camera adaptors from apple (costs around $25) and you get a 30-pin to SD and 30-pin to USB adaptor which both support external storage. I had a 16GB iPad 1 and would fill up a couple 32GB SD cards…
Well, the Hero2 had lower angle recording options (90, 140 & 170 I think), so I would assume that the Hero3 has the same options. If not, a Hero2 might be the way to go.
Not saying I agree with the picture, or even if it is relevant to what I am about to say, but....
In comparing specs though, I noticed that the Sony Action Cam does that for $199, while you have to get the $399 GoPro to get the same frame rate feature. Not saying I'm entirely impressed with the Sony cam yet, but 120fps for $199 is pretty amazing.
While I do agree with you - 4K is marketing hype - the processor required to make it happen, even at 15fps, is the important thing for what it does in all other available resolutions. Being able to do 720p at 120fps is, in my mind, the single biggest draw to the black model over the other two. Why not hype 120fps…
I've always found it interesting how narrowly we define the parameters of "life". We know what we know in any given moment, but one thing that seems more constant than what we know at the moment is simply what we don't know. And, given that our entire experience is made from an existence solely founded on this…
I the $15 per month fee for the cloud storage, or just to use the device? If I can get away with local storage and no per month fee, I'm sold, but if I have to pay a fee, I'd prefer a TiVo, thank you very much Mr. Boxee.
Is it worth mentioning that the Pro version will be out next year and should be considerably better (albeit more expensive)?
30-pin compatibility only. Failed before it left the door.....
What about this one?
Color me not impressed. Here you can find a man - not even full horsepower! - pulling a 767.
They drove by my house last Thursday. But it was in one of their Prius's. When did they start using Subbie's?
I bought 3 boxes of Office 2008 from an Apple store and got 3 boxes filled with rocks and tissue. All were still wrapped and sealed. Fortunately I shopped at this particular Apples tore enough that they didn't bat an eye when I brought them back in for a refund.
Apple created a media market to support its hardware. Amazon already had a media market, so it built hardware to support that. Doesn't seem like a great surprise based on their business models.
I completely agree. I bought a Roku XS with low hopes, but hey! it was cheap, so I didn't care. I already had an AppleTV, MacMini & TiVo under my TV, so it was a curiosity purchase. But within 1.5 months of ownership, it has already become what I do 90% of my viewing from - I can now essentially ditch my AppleTV…
I guess I was thinking Amazon, TigerDirect, CDW, etc. I order probably $100k of gear from Amazon each year and have always found them to meet my needs....but those needs are maybe 50 hard drives at a time, not 1900...
I'm surprised the internet wasn't more of their friend, and that they ended up deciding the brick&mortar stores offered a better deal. Seems counterintuitive to me for a cloud storage company to be shopping retail.
I've always gotten a Lifetime sub, which has always payed for itself. My Series 3 must be six years old now and I payed $299 for the lifetime sub; totally happy with paying $4-5 per month for the TiVo interface. But I do appreciate the monthly fees are ridiculous, and even lifetime now is high at $499/399. They…
