no, it's just that we don't understand what exactly it's supposed to be satirizing (which may suggest it's not a very good satire)

I only realized this year that Bryce Dallas Howard was not Jessica Chastain

Well in a weird parallel universe where everything is controlled by a single corporation, isn't it a good thing? It's a silly naive plan in the real world but in that fictional world it actually makes sense.
I'm only on the pilot though and i'm worried that it's gonna go into predictable "is this really a good thing?"

The hacker stuff IS try-hard though…it's just better at making it look dramatic than most hacker shows

Really? I'm on the pilot and the show does not portray him as particularly mentally ill. His character is more or less presented as 'weird loner anti-hero'.
It's not special in that regard, mental illness is rarely portrayed accurately on-screen…

I prefer 'precarious aesthetic', 'self destructive tv' implies some sort of radical departure but in reality they are just using relatively traditional methods to convey story.

ugh, I hate the music, so bland and predictable (and terrible song choices). watch The Knick for a great electronic pulsating score.

Exactly, it's closer to House of Cards than Hannibal. It aims for 'prestige' without actually achieving it.

I disagree that it is beautifully shot, it's barely above average.

Also, Chilton.

suddenly Vince Vaughn's death shuffle makes sense…

the 'apocolypse' is still in the early stages. any sane person would look at an unfolding disaster and think "well if i stay somewhere safe, it should pass". it is not readily apparent that it's a full-on apocalypse.
besides, people do that all the time in real-life, they don't evacuate, they make decisions based on

people forget, the original Walking Dead also had this in the first season. they had no real idea of the mechanics until the end of the season. they still had faith that there would be a cure. this was weeks and weeks after the outbreak. isolated people were still unaware or disbelieving

They even set this up pretty explicitly in the first scene of the pilot, when Druggie Kid shuffled around like a zombie

c'mon though, if anything would drive humans totally fucking insane and climb back into trees, it would either be a zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion. just look at the real-life examples of people who actually think something like that will happen…

But it's not a natural disaster, is it? Zombie movies have never been about "nature vs. humans", it's always "humans vs. dead humans".

it's called pirating. though i'd recommend downloading a good Stonewall documentary instead

Australia's biggest hip-hop hit last year was called 'Cosby Sweater'.
Sidenote: Listen to Tkay Maidza, best Australian hip-hop artist in years, on par with Azealia Banks imo. Also not white and not an asshole.

Sidenote: Everyone should watch Rebel Wilson's 'Bogan Pride', it is hilariously awful

And white celebrities don't?
