wait what? did the author of this piece just discover soap opera?

I remember when Fimmel was an underwear model, never did I imagine him being one of the best actors on TV!

Ragnar agrees.

it's admirably dealing with the intersection of history and myth, so it makes no sense to use modern plot devices frequently used in TV. When I get sick of the rotating cast of other shows, Vikings is always there to tell a good old-fashioned saga.

obviously sad that Siggy had to go, but really effective, sad, haunting and chilling and telegraphed only in non-obvious ways. makes a good change to see a female character not just written well in life but also in death.

the dialogue in this show kills me

the show is *trying* to portray the courts as corrupt and impotent. unrealistic execution of a relatively sound premise, but that's to be expected in a show like Broadchurch.

That's true, but considering that "the black guy dies first" trope is the most notorious of all zombie tropes, I think it's pertinent to keep a tally, because clearly the writers do not.

I have never heard it argued that Peggy and Joan from Mad Men are one-dimensional, probably because most of the writers on that show are women. It also doesn't shy away from issues of sexism and racism in the workplace.

Are you saying the real world doesn't have hordes of evil white rednecks?

Have we ever had any other Asian characters?? Are these ethnic-cleansing zombies?!

haha, the writers would never be self-aware enough to pull that off

at this point it be more realistic if Deanna was a closet white supremacist
who's secret plan was to kill every black character…
but that would never happen because apparently all the racists turned into zombies on this show.
The Walking Ethnic-Cleansing Dead.

The problem with this show is that instead of using the constant threat of death to drive character and dramatic tension, they use it as a plot device and dramatic crutch, leaving representation in the dust.

At the very least, having a gay couple is why we lost a couple of black characters this season.

One actual black character from fucking Atlanta. Whoop-de-fucking-do. Also she hasn't had solid character development for ages. Danai Gurira is the only reason why the character still lives.

I feel like D&D got bored after season 3.
Time for some new showrunners to inject energy back into the series and do justice to the last few books.

maybe to spread the virus?

i'm thinking the hand-cuffs are meant to frame Dan. Either that or Pettigrew was legit killed by a bear with no help from Dan and it was all a terrible accident.

if you were paying attention from the start you know that this show is pure science fiction thriller-turned-horror. Like, nothing about this place makes any scientific sense (hence why such a place doesn't exist).
