What I learned from this experience is simple: most pickup truck owners don’t care what they need. They care only what they want.

If you got that pig down that pass, a Raptor would be fine

People who buy this will never have anything in the bed except a couple of mountain bikes anyway...

Different purposes. You’re not going to see any full size truck follow my Jeep through here:

Now playing

Oh my gawd Black Bear Pass!

This dude did it in a stock Renegade Trail Hawk.

Who said it was the chief purpose? My refrigerators chief purpose is to keep food cold, but I still want a model that makes ice cubes and dispenses water.

Again Colorado isnt the end all be all of gauging a vehicle. If someone where to have the opinion that its not offroading if its any vehicle that does less than 50mph in sand, or can only go in anything less than 3ft of mud, then the FJ wouldnt look such a great choice and might not even be considered a reall offroad

People can spend their money however they wish, but it’s laughable to yell “ULTIMATE OFFROADER” when buying a SFA Jeep with 4 doors that has half a foot extra wheelbase over a 4Runner.

And it’s not even a full size spare lmao. If there’s one type of vehicle that should never have a donut, it’s a truck. But this isn’t a truck, so I guess that’s cool.

There are a ton of 2 door wranglers on our local lots, but then again success isnt defined by one small location out of a whole country. I imagine every trail but the 10 hardest can be done by a properly armored and lifted ford escape as well, but thats why comparing modded out vehicles is never a solid argument.

And heaven help you if you’re hauling a shrink-wrapped pallet full of bricks. :(

Surely you won’t mind unloading that bed full of gravel on the side of the freeway to change that flat tire, right?

that’s exactly what I thought. how the hell are you supposed to get that thing out if you’re hauling stuff on the bed?

God dammed spare tire is still in the bed of the truck...

Lets see the FJ pull off this as well.

I know on paper the EcoBoost is better.... I’m just remaining to be convinced if it will be as good in reality. I love the styling on the new truck, I haven’t seen if the panoramic roof will be available but would love that if it was, and I love the 10 speed gearbox... but I’m just very hesitant about the engine.

That’s also implying that a Raptor isn’t fun to drive on the street. It very, very much is.

Next to sports cars that don’t see the track. Honestly, I really don’t understand the idea that offroad trucks have to be offroaded, but it’s fine for people to daily drive a sports car to work and the grocery store. What’s the difference?

It’s not for offroading the same as a Tacoma or Jeep; it’s more for desert running. If you think the Raptor is ungainly, check out a Power Wagon.

Well then get the shorter wheelbase one.... it’s still offered. And yes its wider its so it can be a mid travel truck with 35" tires and yes.... it was designed for desert running.
