But the joke is making fun of a lot of latin cultures for or being racist. It is not making fun of black people. And this sadly is true in maaany places. I live in Mexico and the preference for lighter skin is commonplace. Not universal, but very common.

Oh, my former m-i-l, Nicaraguan, is SO racist. It’s a shame because she is otherwise a lovely person, but she thinks “Mexicans and Blacks and Dominicans” are “trashy.”

Lopez has never been a “wholesome” comedian. Just like Saget, his act isn’t his show nor should anyone assume it would be in 2017 where you can google any info you want

I hate it when people park in front of my house overnight. Park in front of your own damn house. Or better yet, in your driveway where you belong.

SO many “wholesome” entertainers are demeaning towards women when they aren’t on TV. In the eighties I went to see Jay Leno do stand up in Daytona on spring break. He was so amazingly hateful towards women, I never liked him after that. 30 years is a long time to hold a grudge, but I am a master.

If your skin is so thin that you verbally abuse someone until they leave the theater just because they flipped you off, maybe you shouldn’t be a comedian. :/

I had a really fun time during the last Christmas holiday when I went to visit my half Mexican/Dominican gf’s family and I was told directly by multiple family members that I wasn’t invited to Christmas dinner because I am black. Her mother also told her that she should break up with me to make the whole ordeal

wondering aloud about how American blacks could be so poor even though they’d been in the US for so long (verdict: laziness).

when i was working at a Johnny Rocket’s in east LA about eight years ago, we had a large black clientele. the entire waitstaff except for me was latino and anytime a black customer came in nobody would serve them. they used to say the nastiest s***, especially about the tipping habits. i was like wow, white people are

IT’s a black thing. It’s not even primarily to Latinos either. Indians, Asians, and Arabs all also have a HUGE issue with having darker skin and being “black.” To the point that you should see the whole industry around whitening Indian and Asian skin tones.

One of my cousins (Ecuadorean side of the family) is *the* single most openly racist person I know. She’s also misogynistic AF.

His reaction was definitely juvenile and over the top, but I’m still kinda with George Lopez on that one. We all know comedians at comedy shows are known to make more than the occasional offensive joke. If your skin is that thin that you are compelled to stand up and give the finger to the comedian - from the front

It’s true that all racial groups generally have dating preferences and this informal “ranking” system you refer to, but for black people it really is a whole different kind of beast. Take this with a grain of salt (and ignorance) because I’m a white guy, but I was required to take a cultural anthropology class taught

Why the hell are the allegedly “wholesome” entertainers, Cosby and Lopez, so foul mouthed and defensive at the drop of a hat, especially towards women? Is Jim Gaffigan next?

eeehhhhhh, I wouldn’t quite call it a Full on one yet. Most likely 3/5 Michael Richards with that joke.

One of my “learnings” as an Anglo working in a Latino nonprofit was how anti-black many of my co-workers were, from dissing each other for being too dark to wondering aloud about how American blacks could be so poor even though they’d been in the US for so long (verdict: laziness). The other Anglo guy in the office

He’s not wrong about the parking thing, though! I can’t find the article now, but ten years ago or so a dude in Lopez’s native northeast San Fernando Valley straight up murdered a neighbor because the victim had parked his car in front of the perp’s house. The shooter had illegally painted his curb red, put out cones

Christie... “who’s.” Sheesh.

“Don’t marry somebody black and don’t park in front of our house.”

Who is still booking George Lopez for shows?
