The main issue is briefness I think, and that those were both common sayings well before either song was written. They sued over two lyrics, not a whole song. You can’t copyright such a common phrase, or anyone who says “haters gonna hate” will have to pay royalties.

What does that have to do with anything. There are stunt people for stunts, as well as proper safety procedures. Any director that endangers his cast and crew and gets mad when the lack of safety is pointed out to him should absolutely lose his job, regardless of the main character’s gender.
