Dude. My man. I took the long way to school for three years because the normal way passed by a construction site and the workers would always harass me. Including in deep winter while wearing heavy coat that me look like some kind of snowman. And that’s just one of the stories.

.The point was to bring awareness by showing the world just how many women have been victimized. In stead every female on social media has posted it and tons of men have been posting it

Well you can start by trying to change that bullshit HR policy. And even if you were supportive, it’s clear that your company wouldn’t be and it’s possible your employee picked up on that.

I want to know when this magical time when people did more about issues like this actually was.

This. And I think they’ve misidentified their market slightly: these will be useful in campuses that are far away from cities, places where every supermarket/convenience store closes at 6PM, or in suburban America where you have to drive to the nearest store. Basically places where bodegas aren’t.

I’m from elsewhere in Europe and I disagree: HP brought fandom-ish stuff to the mainstream. It was bigger than any computer game fandom - and those didn’t quite have all the different mediums of books + movies + all kinds of other connected merchandise (at least not here). Midnight book launches were never a thing

All of the Holmes stories and novels are barely related to each other (and sometimes even give conflicting details), so it’s really not necessary to read them in any kind of order, or to read all of them.

Twilight had the whole #teamJacob and #teamEdward thing. That was more innovative (maybe not for the better but that’s another point) than anything I can think of that Harry Potter fandom did or even that the author brought up.

I think it used to do that. Still does that on mobile. Such are the ways of kinja.

Only ungrayed people can ungrey others.

They tend to mash all the notifications in one. If you get a lot of users that star your comment i’ll show up as one notification saying “x, y and 345 other people recommended your comment.”

Nope and nope.

Welcome! It’ll be nice having The AV Club around here.

You are going to have many, many more opportunities to hate kinja.

All of those crescent shaped shadows are the clipse! (Created by the small spaces between the leaves.)

using “literally” figuratively is using it to mean the exact opposite of what it really means

There will never be ideal infrastructure. As much as everyone is saying Tesla is rushing this, I think they’re doing okay. They warn that it’s not a truly autonomous system and that you need to keep paying attention, but the only way to get truly autonomous cars on road is by learning from real life situations.

Those were the fucking worst. I’m glad they did away with them.

That’s pretty cool, and I imagine an oven that works with a lot less power would be very useful down here as well. Here’s an article with more info.
