I’ve clearly been trying to have a more detailed and nuanced discussion than that, and you have somehow reduced everything I wrote down to the least interesting version of it. I am flabbergasted, to say the least.

But I mean, where else to take this very seriously than on a pop culture website? I mean if there ever was a place to do that... right?! This should be a place where nerds like us can talk it out! And I mean, it still is, somewhat at least. Whoever comes around here with a “you’re taking this too seriously” can fuck…
With Halloween there’s an implication that the sequels lost the thread of the original movie. Which is ironic, since the 2018 movie was just another mediocre sequel, and it also borrowed from the older sequels it was supposed to be replacing.
What was the purpose? What pressing need was there that required a return of Scream? None, other than I suspect more than a few folks connected to this had a need for some cash because more than a few of these people are not working much these days.
It’s crazy that we have reached the point where nostalgia sequels are getting nostalgia sequels or reboots. Scream 4 was “what if 15 after the original murders, our grizzled heroes return when a new generation experiences another killing spree!” And now... “what if 25 after the original murders, our grizzled heroes…
Those aren’t “survival horror” tropes though. SH is having to worry about ammo, whether you’ll need to come back the same way and should clear it out or just try and dodge by with no combat, sacrificing items not knowing when the next item box is located etc.
The Anderson films were more creative than this.
“Your Rebel Flag” from 1992's Carnival of Carnage (their first major album) pretty much sets the tone for the rest of their career regarding bigots and rednecks.
Oh look, it’s a crowd of angry white people marching on the Capitol and... not attempting to overthrow democracy.
I’ve always approved of ICP just because they target a demographic (poor white rural males) that’s otherwise at extremely high risk of becoming racist right-wing shitheads
I saw ICP open for Cypress Hill around 1999. It was meh, but the Juggalos were kind as fuck. It was absolutely bizarre. The stoners were the mean violent ones.
This website is you guessed it
Adding insult to injury is the fact that ICP is, underneath their ultra-juvenile attempts at sarcasm and satire, pretty anti-right-wing. And the Juggalos, for the most part, seem to respect that vibe. Reportedly, their tolerance for skinhead infiltrators is really, really low - and you have to think that skinheads…
I came across Devil Story after finding a truly demented railer for it on a bootleg VHS of some horror pic in the late 80s and became determined to somehow track it down. There was, obviously, no Amazon those days, and it seemed it had only be released in France and Belgium at that time, so on a trip to Paris I tried…
maybe, I think lately movies have been leaning heavily into the comedic absurdity of royalty. this seems to lean more into the horror of it. Diana seemed so alive compared to the ghosts around her, and maintained a spark despite all the sadness of living a life in a haunted world.
My high school drama teacher did this with Grease. Allegedly to skirt copyrights but I think he just wanted to see how it played out. It became Greece.
People keep saying this is Spielberg’s first musical, but 1941 is at least half one.
I don’t know if it’s a good reason, but I imagine audiences will find all the race war stuff an easier pill to swallow if it’s set back in 1950s, as we tend to find the casual racism of past people more forgivable. (“It was a different time!”) It loses the visceral punch—and kind of misses the whole point—of the…
But imagine it synched to crazy-skiddly-dap jazz: one side’s guns the drums, the other’s the horns. It could work, I tells ya.
It’s hard to sustain a gang dance fight when everyone’s carrying AKs
