I saw it Saturday and Sunday at 11:15 am, and the theater wasn't full, but there were a lot more people there than you'd expect.
I don't see why not. I barely remembered the first movie and I loved it. You might miisd some of the homages to the first, but IMO those were the weakest part of the movie.

The reason I have PreCheck is so I don’t have to take my laptop out of bag, don’t have to unpack my fluids, don’t have to take my shoes off, etc. I get through PreCheck very quickly with my carryon bags.
